MANTHAN - ORIENTATION SESSION

“VALUE INCULCATION”

There is an essential need and importance of value education in school children, especially during post-pandemic times when children remained in a vacuum of learning and were even exposed to faulty sources of learning too. Thus, looking into the present need for behavioural and moral development through inculcating values, a series of orientation sessions are being organized on “Value Inculcation” for all classes on different schedules. One such session is organized on Thursday, August 04, 2022, for classes VI & VII in College Auditorium.

The session was taken up by Madam Principal, Ms Sarika Gaur and School Counsellor, Dr Preeti Jain. Underlying areas related to behavioural and moral issues were analyzed prior to the session and then these were included to counsel students. Children were oriented toward inculcating good values such as empathy, respect, discipline, Help & sharing, responsibility etc. They were also counselled on the prevention of bullying, aggression and impulsive behaviour. Students were also made aware of the importance of counselling and how should they report when there is a need for counselling. The whole session was quite interactive thus children surely learnt good values to strengthen their moral and behavioural code of conduct. To review the real implements in behaviour, students’ behavioural observation and follow-up are shared by their teachers as well.

“GOOD TOUCH AND BAD TOUCH”

It’s almost impossible for parents to keep their children under constant monitoring for their safety. While at school, at a friend’s house, or with a relative, the knowledge of good and bad touch can help them in various ways. Thus, it is essential for kids to know about good and bad touch and what are various safety rules to follow.

Keeping the significance of this issue, an Orientation Session was organized on “GOOD TOUCH BAD TOUCH” in association with the SPARSH Campaign on Saturday, August 06, 2022, for the children of classes III to V. The key speakers for the session were Mr. Vikram Singh Raghav (UNICEF consultant on sustainable development goals with the Department of Plan and Department of Panchayati Raj) and Ms. Kala Dhameja (Volunteer SPARSH campaign).

During the session, the children nicely explained the meaning of good and bad touch, the alarming systems our body has, how to identify a bad touch and what we should do when witnessing such an incident. They have also discussed the Child helpline which can be contacted during such critical times. Children were keenly interested and showed their active participation while learning about touch safety. After the session, a feedback questionnaire was also shared with parents and it was acknowledged and appreciated by parents also. It was also suggested to repeat such workshops in the future.
